A library is regarded as a treasure house of knowledge for an institute, as such, it should be in proper form and well maintained from all corners.
In case of an engineering institute, especially when the institute is of GIMT status (the first AICTE approved private engineering institute) the library must be well maintained and should provide all the best services of a library.
The GIMT Library is at the ground floor of the Academic Building of the Institution and it occupies total floor area of more than 5000 sq. ft. The GIMT Library is full of different textbooks, reference books and other reference sources like encyclopedias, dictionaries, novels, biographies etc. The library provides four daily newspapers and numbers of magazine to its users. It also procures printed as well as e- journals on science and technology and management regularly. At present the library has almost 20,000 books serving near about 1800 students and 130 faculty-staffs with 6 library staff. DDC 22nd Edition and AACR II is followed for the classification and cataloguing the documents respectively. It provides ready reference service using both offline and online sources of information. There is paid Xerox facility for the users and it is planning to introduce more user-friendly services to its users. Library is fully automated by the library management software SOUL2.0 from INFLIBNET, Hyderabad.
GIMT library provides a huge collection of subject related books. Besides, it has numbers of other documents including audio video materials. The details are as follows-

Electronic resources are the collection of e documents used by the users of GIMT to keep track of current important information about electronic resources, especially internet-based resources such as electronic journals, database, and electronic books.
These resources are basically Close access Electronic Resources and Open Access E-Resources.
Closed access E resource includes E journals that have been subscribing through J-Gate (For Details contact with the Assistant Librarian), while for accessing the open E resources please go through the link given billow and note down the points you want to search

Rules for Lending Books
Loss of Library Reader's Ticket.
Library Opening hours 8.00 AM to 4.30 PM on all working days except on Sundays and on Academic Calendar Holidays. On Saturday Library will be open from 10.00 AM to 2.00 PM.
The privilege of borrowing books from the library is restricted to the registered members only.
Students will be Issued 2 books on 2 reader's tickets. (2cards). At the time of issuing and returning books, all the students have to show the Identity Card.
Reader's Tickets are not transferable.
Student members must come to the library personally and tender his/her Reader's Tickets at the circulation counter at the time of transaction.
Membership of a student shall remain valid till he/she remains on the rolls of the Institute.
The librarian may recall any book from member at any time.
Looseissues of periodicals and Journals are not meant for issue.
Books will be issued for a period of 14 days only. After 14 days a member is liable to renew the book for another 14 days. After completion of the renewed period the book can not be issued by the concerned student for a period of one week. If any student is failed to return the book within the issuing period i. e. on or before the due date , then from the very next day he/she will be charged Rs. 2 /-per day as fine.
The loss of Reader's Ticket should be reported immediately in writing to the Asst. Librarian and a fine of Rs.50/- will be charged for re-issue of a ticket.
Loss or Damage of Borrowed Books
. In case of loss or damage to a book while in borrowers' custody, he/ she will be liable to replace the book immediately within the issuing period. In case of replacement of a book after issuing period, the borrower will be required to pay 50% late fee along with replacement of the book
All kinds of personal belongings including food items (except notebook) are supposed to be kept in the property counter at the entrance.
Silence is must inside the library.
Use of MOBILE PHONE is strictly prohibited.
Member shall not smoke or spit in any part of the library.
While browsing books, no book should be replaced by the users on the stack themselves. Users are requested to use the OPAC facility provided by the GIMT Library to search a book available in the library.
The physical condition of the book should be checked while checking out. Mutilation of pages if found must be brought to the notice of the circulation in-charge immediately. Otherwise, the borrower himself/herself shall be responsible for mutilation of the book if detected afterwards.
Underlining, marking, folding of pages, etc. in the book is strictly prohibited.
Upon any infringement of the library rules, members shall forfeit privileges of admission and membership of the library.
The Asst. Librarian reserves the right to suspend or delinquent membership of any member found misbehaving, abusing the library staff or behaving in an indecent manner.
The members caught tearing of pages/stealing books or otherwise mutilating books will be suspended forthwith from using library facilities and further disciplinary action will be initiated against him/her by the Institute.
